Spring Is Here & Car Season Is In Full Swing
Now that winter is officially over and the ever-present winter storms are finally beginning to take a back seat to tulips, daffodils and an increasing number of sunny days, it is apparent that the car show, swap meet and cruise-in season is hitting its stride. The month began with two of the biggest parts swap meets on the West coast — the Portland Swap Meet and the Portland International Raceway Swap Meet. Together, the combined meets featured over 5,000 vendor stalls and attracted some 50,000+ buyers and gawkers. Among the interesting and fun goings on were two Northwest authors, David Dickinson and Lance Lambert.
David was on hand selling and autographing his book, “The Old Car Nut Book”. It’s a collection of stories submitted by car owners around the country, including a few written by Dave. Get one. It will remind you of why we all love old cars so much… and it is a fun read for those rainy nights when we can’t cruise the main drag of town in our collector cars. If you didn’t make the Portland meet, Dave also has books for sale on Amazon: www.amazon.com/The-Old-Car-Nut-Book/dp/0989806502/
Another great read, is “Fenders, Fins & Friends — Confessions of a Car Guy” by noted TV personality and author, Lance Lambert, who was also at Portland. For over 20 years, Lance has been the host of The Vintage Vehicle Show, and along the way has rubbed his automotive shoulders with Jay Leno, Lee Iaccoca, George Barris while producing great TV and collecting plenty of automotive experiences. In his new book, Lance writes about his adventures with cars from the time he was a teen up until the present day. It is a great collection of stories and is also available from Amazon: www.amazon.com/Fenders-Fins-Friends-Confessions-Car/dp/0984489878
